International Academic Competitions is delighted to announce the creation of the National Political Science Bee, a new competition promoting excellence and achievement in civics education for students across the USA. The NPSB builds on IAC’s work in promoting social studies education since 2010 through competitions including the National History Bee and Bowl, US Geography Championships, the International Geography Bee, US History Bee, and the International History Olympiad. The National Political Science Bee fills a much-needed niche, as an understanding of domestic and foreign politics, current events, international relations, political theory and related fields are essential to students becoming informed and empowered citizens of their country who are able to work for good across their communities, nation, and world.
In presenting the National Political Science Bee, IAC is partnering both with its long-time sponsor, publisher Houghton Mifflin Harcourt as well as with Presidential Classroom, which for decades has supported civics education programs in and around Washington, DC. The experience and partnership with Presidential Classroom will be particularly helpful in presenting a key feature of the National Political Science Bee: dinner seminars at the National Championships on Thursday, April 23, 2020. These sessions will allow small groups of students who are competing at the National Championships to gain insight on a particular topic with politicians, policy makers, and others who are influential in public life and public service.
